The picture

He stood there, in front of them. The teacher. A teacher. Just a teacher in front of the students. Just students.

But not this time. No more "just a teacher". Now it was him, in all his anger. And...
- Why are you looking at me like this? - he shouted at someone. The kid didn't seem to get it. - Why are you looking at me? Look at yourselves! Sitting here like... like... - but the right word didn't come, so he took something out of his pocket. A peace of paper.
- Wandering what's this, aren't you? Wandering what has your crazy teacher on his mind this time?
He showed them. A picture of two young people in a hug, smiling. He sat on an empty desk.
- This is what you aren't. - He said. Certain sadness was to be heard in his voice. - This is what you would have been, if you weren't afraid. - He stood up. - This is what everyone dreams of: to be happy, to enjoy life, not to be afraid... - his voice was getting stronger and louder. - This is what you will never be, because you will never dare to be! - He stood quiet for a second, than said, silently: -They were what they were. They dared to be.
He paused again. His face was red, he was out of breath and his eyes were glittering. He sat back on the empty desk and looked down.
- You are asking yourselves what the hell am I talking about. I'll tell you. I didn't know those people. They are just two faces on a picture to me. I haven't even heard so much about them. I had a friend, who knew them. Once, after what happened, he told me about them. Two young soles, who dared to live. How often do you get that? So I asked more. There were tears in his eyes when he told me as they might be in mine as I'm telling you now. 'They were out in the mountain', he said. 'The darkness took them. A wrong movement, and that was it. Just a second, nothing more.'
But they dared! They lived! Why am I telling you this?... You saw the picture. Now you know what I mean, next day you'll be afraid to go on street because of this kind of people... people who do it.

And then... he was just a teacher once again. Not that this didn't teach them anything. Most of them just forgot it very soon because, as he said, the fear got them. Still, some had a chance to... save themselves. They didn't die early, not everyone who dares does, but they lived fast and never forgot the two faces on the picture. Just two faces of two dead young soles, but who lived and who, through their death, taught others how to live.
